The Trust Offers Health & Dental Program
Effective June 22, 2010 the Trust officially merged with the Governmental Health Group of Rhode Island (GHGRI) and formed its own self-insured Heath and Dental Pool. With a premium base of more than $100 million, The Trust’s Heath and Dental Pool, through claims administrators Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island and Delta Dental respectively, provides health and dental coverage to about 7,700 local governmental employees and their dependents. The Trust Supervisor's Management Institute (SMI)
The Trust is pleased to announce the completion of the inaugural session of The Supervisor’s Management Institute (SMI). The Supervisor’s Management Institute (SMI) is a new training program offered by The Trust in partnership with Roger Williams University Leadership Institute. SMI is designed to help supervisors learn how to effectively deal with the challenges that they face through a variety of comprehensive training programs. Full Article
Are You Prepared for a DOT Audit?
Recently, the DOT has announced that it is ramping up its audits of employers who have Commercial Drivers License employees. With the summer months approaching, it is bound to happen. You open the mail and there it is, a letter from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Specialist (FMCSA) informing you that your municipality or school district has been scheduled for an audit of your records. Defensive Driving Simulator Training
The Trust is working to bring Defensive Driving Simulator Training to municipalities across the state. This program is available to all Trust Member municipal CDL drivers. The Driving Simulator is owned by the University of Rhode Island, who partners with The Trust to provide this specialized training program. Full Article
Trust Provides Presentation on Liability Implications of Regionalization and Collaboration
Managing municipal budgets is becoming more difficult during these challenging fiscal times, and there is an increased need to consolidate services in the public sector. The Trust recently presented a seminar at the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns Annual Convention on the liability and insurance implications on current initiatives already involved in shared services, the creation of joint boards through regionalization, and what it all means to municipalities.
