Group Life Insurance Program Overview

Launched in 1999 with just four Members and initially covering about 1,600 lives, The Trust’s Group Life Program now has 51 Members and insures nearly 12,000 employee lives.

The Trust’s partner and selected underwriter for its Group Life Insurance Program is Standard Insurance Company (The Standard). Through our partnership with Standard, Members enjoy not only premium savings, but also several plan enhancements and services, which are included as part of the coverage at no additional expense. Benefits such as:

Administrative Ease: Paperwork and record-keeping matters are largely handled by The Trust on our Members' behalf including enrollment, billing and claims handling.
One-Stop-Shopping: You can place all of your public entity's insurance needs with The Trust. In addition to providing Property, Liability, and Workers' Compensation Insurance, The Trust works with The Standard to match your existing group life insurance plan design thereby conforming to any contractual obligations that must be met due to union contracts.
Multi-Year Rate Guarantee: The Trust may be able to provide rate stability by offering a multiple year guarantee.

Consistency in Affordability

One of the primary objectives of the Group Life Program is affordability. For more than a decade, The Trust has consistently offered our Members lower premium rates — in one instance more than 44% lower — than any competing group life insurance program. What's more, we've also been able to maintain these low rates or reduce them either further for many of our Members who participate in the program.
