Wellness Overview

The Trust’s wellness program, Health Matters, is designed to help manage the rising cost related to health care and workplace injuries. In partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island, the Program's mission is to provide and promote innovative approaches to total worker health by establishing work environments that encourage health and safety in the workplace and beyond.

Benefits include:

  • ASSESSMENT & PLANNING - The Trust works with each Member to identify Wellness Coordinators at each site to communicate and plan programs with. Through assessments of the current workplace and by surveying employees about their health interests, Yearly Member Plans are created for each Member.
  • AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS - One of the most important ways to help people improve their help and well-being is by informing and educating people on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and identifying potential health risks. These campaigns include:

    • Prevention is Key
    • Wellness Screenings
  • BEHAVIOR CHANGE INTERVENTIONS - These multi-week programs are designed to guide participants in the behavior change process to improve health and reduce health risks. Programs include.
    • Group Exercise
    • Tobacco Free
    • Healthy Weight
    • Stress Management
    • Healthy Kitchen Makeover
    • Family Nutrition
  • EDUCATION SESSIONS - Education sessions are targeted seminars on a special topic which can include:
    • Nutrition
    • Stress Management
    • Sleep
    • Tobacco Cessation
    • Weight Management
    • Disease Prevention
  • ONLINE WELLNESS PORTAL - The online wellness portal provides participants access to a variety of web-based workshops, trackers, health information and a Personal Health Assessment. In addition, it allow customized nutrition and exercise plans, wellness challenges and additional resources.
  • LOSS PREVENTION PROGRAMS - The Trust's Loss Prevention Department provides safety trainings in order to minimize workplace injuries and assist in ensuring a safer work environment. Examples of programs include:

    • Lifting Training
